My coaching blends advanced body mechanics, aerial movement theory, and creative artistry to deepen your authenticity. I utilize my knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and training principles to create healthier, more resilient bodies.

About me

Caitlin Wallace (she/they) is a dance trapeze artist, movement coach, and Doctor of Physical Therapy based in Portland, OR.My background in movement began in competitive athletics, where I pitched at the NCAA Division II level for Cal State Monterey Bay. After graduation I discovered aerial and circus, ultimately undertaking three years of intensive, full-time training at the New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA). Here I participated in the multidisciplinary ProTrack Program, specializing in dance trapeze.Since 2018, I have taught aerial and flexibility to students at every level. My coaching is informed by my background in collegiate sports, professional circus, and education in physical therapy. When I teach trapeze, I emphasize technical clarity and movement theory. I highlight mechanics like balance, weight transfer, and friction or pressure through points of contact to help you broaden your own vocabulary on the apparatus. In my flexibility classes, I prioritize active range of motion, end-range strength, and joint stability to develop controlled movement that translates directly to your aerial and circus practice. As a physical therapist, I seek to indenfity underling causes of ongoing pain. I analyze movement across the entire kinetic chain—considering things like posture, body mechanics, movement compensations, and muscle performance—to create interventions specific to your needs. I also consider training variables like load, volume, and frequency, to help you manage activity while reducing pain. My goal is to develop a progressive training program tailored to your specific goals to promoting long-term resilience and physical health.Currently available for virtual coaching, including weekly drop-in flexibility classes, and private lessons. In-person workshops and lessons can be coordinated at A-WOL Dance Collective in Portland, OR.For PT, I am currently licensed in Oregon, and can soon offer in-person evaluations and treatment at a clinic in the greater Portland area. (Stay tuned!)
Please note that I am not offering telehealth for physical therapy services at this time.
